Pleased To Meet You…
Hi! my names Mark Carnaby and I’ve been involved in creative design since 2001, started building websites in 2004 and have been DJing for at least ten years or so.
The passion for web design developed when a good friend of mine needed a site for an extreme sports company, Chemical Boards Company, or CBC as it was known. After making two full length videos for CBC I wanted to try my hand at something new, and accepted the challenge of designing and building a website to promote the teams activities.
With no formal training in web design I started out by learning the basics of HTML through manuals and magazines, then using software packages such as Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Photoshop I put together a fairly decent site which ended up being popular amongst CBC fans.
A few years later and I’ve come a long way since building that first website, and having designed many different styles of site, all focused on clean design and usability and all with there own unique set of challenges, I always feel ready to take on a new one.
When I’m not behind the desk or out DJing (see below), I enjoy taking photo’s of all sorts of stuff I find interesting along my travels, and try my best to post them up here. Skateboarding has made the most influence on my life of which I’ve been rolling around on since the schooldays and could probably write a whole book on that subject, but I think I’ll save that for a rainy day!
A little bit about DJing..
To me listening too and playing music is one of the most enjoyable things to do in life and I regularly play out in bars and clubs (see Events Calendar for dates). Rock & roll, soul, funk, reggae & ska – in fact most genres from pre-seventies are probably my favourites although I do occasionally play some of the more current stuff. These days I use cd’s over vinyl, mostly because I’ve had enough of lugging around back breaking record bags and decks! and have always thought about DJing as playing your selection of music to a hopefully appreciative crowd, whether you have the dusty vinyl or not. Check out the music tasters below to hear the kinda stuff I play.
