Very interesting article on the so called ‘green shoots’ that measure economic growth, for example:

“The crane index. How many cranes are visible from a given point. Really a measure of optimism about the prospects for commercial property.”

I kinda believe in this stuff although you gotta tread carefully when making your own green shoots analogy or ‘index’ as it’s know – sun cream sales going up doesn’t necessarily mean consumers have more money to spend, it just means the sun is out!
