After a long but ‘made-to-feel-comfortable’ 12hr flight with Japanese airline ANA, I made the total schoolboy error of boarding the wrong train from Narita airport to get to my hotel destination of Asakusa (have you seen the Tokyo subway map?!) getting off that train I waited at the the correct station and sat sitting on the platform contemplating why there were so many Japanese people on the train wearing surgical masks and pretty much all of them fiddling with their mobile phones, whilst listening to the calming bird sounds being played peacefully over the tannoy system at nine o’clock at night! ~ welcome to Japan!
It is near impossible to describe the wonderful & exciting world of Tokyo city in just a few paragraphs, in fact words are just not gonna do the place justice, an actual visit is required, besides, between first discovering that my hotel was only capable of hiring out Windows 98 laptops with just an ethernet connection, no Wi-Fi anywhere! (and in one of the most technology advanced city’s in the world!), using toilets that automatically hair dry yer bum, all the beautiful temples hidden amongst uber modern buildings, drinking whiskey & playing hungry hippos with real life manga models, expertly crafted plastic food, randomly being invited to dine with a highly successful business man and his two daughters & the eerie silence you get when eating in western fast food restaurants, plastic food! did I mention that?? I could just go on, and on.. and on.. go there.
